There is no published CLI release yet. No Homebrew formula, no Scoop bucket, no release binaries — the commands below start working when the release lands. Browser users need nothing at all: sendtallow.com is the product today.

Installation

Tallow runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows. Choose your preferred installation method.

macOS

Homebrew (recommended)

brew install tallowteam/tap/tallow

Binary Download

Download the latest release from GitHub Releases:

• Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3): tallow-aarch64-apple-darwin.tar.gz
• Intel: tallow-x86_64-apple-darwin.tar.gz

tar xzf tallow-*.tar.gz
sudo mv tallow /usr/local/bin/

Windows

Scoop (recommended)

scoop bucket add tallow https://github.com/tallowteam/Tallow
scoop install tallow

Binary Download

Download tallow-x86_64-pc-windows-msvc.zip from GitHub Releases and add the extracted directory to your PATH.

Linux

Install Script

From Source

Requires Rust stable toolchain (1.86+):

cd Tallow
cargo build --release

The binary is at target/release/tallow.

Verify Installation

tallow --version

Run the diagnostic check:

tallow doctor

This verifies your system meets all requirements, including crypto library availability and network connectivity.

Self-Update

Tallow can update itself to the latest release:

tallow update

This auto-detects your installation method (Homebrew, Scoop, or binary) and updates accordingly.

System Requirements

• macOS: 11+ (Big Sur or later)
• Linux: glibc 2.31+ (Ubuntu 20.04+, Fedora 33+)
• Windows: 10 version 1809+
• Disk: 15 MB for the binary
• RAM: 256 MB minimum (for Argon2id password hashing)
